Distractions behind the wheel, what you should know in order to avoid them

When we get behind the wheel we are not aware of the amount of distractions that we are subjected and which could be the cause of a traffic accident. Please, be careful and try to avoid them.

According to the DGT, since July 1 there have been 154 fatalities on our roads. One of the main causes of road accidents is distracted driving. Have clear what they are? We’ll give you some examples:

– Lighting a cigarette. Something really common while driving. You should know that it takes about 4 seconds to turn it on, so we travel 133 meters distracted.

– In the case of tuning the radio, it takes about 6 seconds until you find the station that we like (often spent over 6 seconds to find it) and that means that we walk 200 meters without paying the necessary attention to the road.

– It gets stronger when we respond to a phone call, you have been distracted for 266 meters. And if it’s us who carry the call, we get to walk 432 meters without paying attention behind the wheel.

– Finally, the GPS is the worst of our distractions, because while we type our destination had pending 500 meters of the screen and not the steering wheel and / or the road.

So if you have to travel by car this holiday then make sure that all these actions can distract and harm are assumed by the copilot.
